I would say about 70% of my coworkers have stories about sneaking out as teens and I have seen so many questions or answers her on Yahoo about it . I personally could never have done it. My mother was a light sleeper and would know if the door opened. We weren't allowed to sleep over at friends houses so I could not sneak out from there either. If they said no that was it end of discussion.
I don't think my kids would be able to either. I don't go to bed till midnight most nights. My wife is a light sleeper. We have an alarm system that alerts every time a door opens or a window in their rooms. If we say no party tonight there is no party tonight.
Also even if i could of I would not of because the trouble if caught would be no where close to the pleasure of going. I would probably still be grounded. My parents can hold a grudge like no other.

Its a buglar alarm had it since before they were born their room is in the back of the house it is to alert us if someone opens the window to sneak in. But now it works if they open it to sneak out.
Also the door alarm is the same thing they notify if it opens even if not armed.

Here's what I used to do...

Wait until about 9pm and make a big deal about going to bed. I'd then lock my bedroom door and:

1. Go out the back door

2. Climb out of my 2nd story window where i had a ladder waiting

3.Walk right out the front door

Upon coming home, the best way to get back in was again through the window. We didn't have alarms on the windows

Or if I was going to stay out all night, I'd bring PJ's or jogging clothes and just walk in the next am, pretending I went for a walk or jog.

The hard part was that my car had a viper alarm that loudly beeped upon locking and unlocking, so I had to know in advance if i was going out so I could turn it off or park down the street.

Why did i sneak out? When i was 17 my boyfriend was 22, and my parents wanted me home at 10pm. Life didn't begin until 10 in those days. Basically I wanted to go and they didn't want me to. They were right of course, I should have stayed home, I didn't think that at the time though

Teenagers Sneaking Out

I'm a teen and I've never had any desire to sneak out, but even if I wanted to I never could, because even the slightest noise will wake my parents up! There aren't any alarms in my house but if I was a heavy sleeper and knew that my teen would be irresponsible enough to sneak out, I'd definitely have them!

And I really don't know why teens like to sneak out. Personally I'd much prefer to just hang out with my friends during the day. Saves me a lot of trouble, because I don't have to sneak around and worry about getting caught, plus it's much better to hang out on a nice, sunny day. My friends and I like to sit outside. But yeah, I really don't understand why they sneak out. Maybe to go to parties or something? But again, parties are much more fun during the day, plus I don't want to go to the type of "parties" that usually occur late at night and in the wee hours of the morning.

At my house its so very easy. I just told everyone that was up I had a headache and I would go lay down in bed. When I have headache's no one messes with me because I'll get rude. And then after about 30 minutes I would go sneak out. I never went farther than the house behind mine because thats where one of my exes lived. At another one of my exes houses, I've stayed the night there and his dad just didn't care so we would just walk out the front door lol.

Yeah we have one of those too ever since my son learned how to open the door. He'd go out any day. We live in the woods with tons of wild animals. Alarms are magic.

Kids sneak out because as humans we all think doing things we aren't suppose to do are awesomely fun.

I never snuck out. I didn't need to nor did I want to. My mom knew who I hung out with and I was allowed to go over to their house pretty much anytime as long as I had cleaned my room and such. One friend lived just down the street and the other across town (but I still walked there as I lived in a small town). She raised me well enough that I never wanted to smoke or go out and have sex (thanks mom!). I would hang out with my friends at school and during the day so when it came to the night I was usually passed out by 10. : )

I think it's really sad that so many teens do sneak out. They're the ones who usually end up drunk, high and/or pregnant.

a lot of kids sneak out just because that's what everyone else is doing and being "bad" can seem cool for teens at times. the reasons can vary though, it might just be a girlfriend or boyfriend that they don't want to introduce to you or hang out with because you are strict and don't allow them to date, or anything along those lines, like a friend that you do not like. if your kids are having a friend sleepover at their house, they might just get bored and decide they want to go out, for example, by my house there is a 24/7 dunkin donuts that i know a lot of the kids in the neighborhood sneak out and go to in the middle of the night.. kids just think its fun, and when teens do something risky and rule breaking, they get a sort of rush of adrenaline.

some kids also go out for other reasons, like doing drugs, smoking, etc.

it seems to me like in your family, you are stern good parents and with all your alarm systems etc. your kids wouldn't think of sneaking out, but in a lot of other homes, it is much much easier for a kid to sneak out.. in some houses it isn't even sneaking. i know in my house my brother just walks out the back door, and my mom doesn't have a CLUE. a lot of people's parents are heavy sleepers, or they just find good ways to get out of the house, like a window if its a room on the 1st or 2nd flr depending on how high it is.

I'd just walk out the door ! My mother was that submissive I'm surprised she knew my name back then !

Most teens who sneak out, do it for the thrill. Probably because they have parents who care & who won't let them do this/that ... you 9 times outta 10 get caught so, as you said, it's not worth it at all !!

I snuck out one time and one time only, my parents did not catch me but my brother dead bolted the door and locked my window and when I tapped on his window he just looked outside and said "I am to tired to open the door, you better knock so mommy and daddy will let you in"

Lets just say that was my 1st last and only time sneaking out. I went to my friends house and watched movies so it was not like I was being bad but that did not matter to them. LOL

because of hovering and over controling/strict parents
