Do you think kid's films these days are too complicated?

I want to buy a half term film my kids (4 and 6) will both enjoy... they love things like the jungle book and toy story but find a lot of the newer films too complicated, with too much plot to follow and they get bored. Any suggestions?

I agree. Have you seen the film cars? My daughter's stupid father bought it for her, and she has never watched it all the way through because it's way too long and the plot's way too complicated.
She loves Ice age and Ice age2, though. They're not too much.
But her favourate films are the cheap ones I've bought for £3 from the co-op, they are remakes of Black Beauty, alice in wonderland, Cinderella, etc.
You can't beat the classics. I have been thining the same for a while, that the new ones are just money making on the merchandise, especially as the toys are available before the film!

I've always found the Pixar films go down a treat, if they like Toy Story they should like all the others (although may well have seen them?)
Toy Story2, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, Cars, A Bugs Life, The Incredibles - there's also Ratatouille which I haven't seen but presume it's equally as good.
Of similar quality are the Dreamworks films : Madagascar, Antz, Shrek1/2/3, Shark Tale, Over The Hedge etc.
Best bit is some of these are quite old now so should be available for a few quid in bargain bins or off Ebay etc. :o)

Stick with the classics - older Dinsey movies and all the recent Pixar films ar great (eg Finding Nemo, Hercules, The Incredibles)

I agree with you but there is one movie that my 3 & 6 year old recently watched and just loved--it's on DVD, did not get any hype but was excellent even for us parents--Nim's Island, has Jodie Foster in it and the little girl from Miss Sunshine

Go for the old Disney films.
Also, to answer your first question, I think it's a good thing that children might feel slightly challenged by films, it might help their learning.

I do! My fiance and that i've got been on our first 'authentic' date as quickly as we would been putting around one yet another for some weeks. We ended up chatting at the same time on my sofa for 2 extra hours. Then we swapped glasses to be certain how sturdy each and every others' prescriptions have been. He stated he had to go via fact he had to artwork early the next day. Then he began the 'lean in' element, and that i exchange into large worried via fact i individually liked him, so I stated "is this the section the place you kiss me?" Then we the two cracked up giggling so no longer person-friendly that it exchange into yet another 5 minutes before we actually DID kiss. After that kiss, I knew he exchange into the guy i exchange into going to marry. i've got in no way been kissed like that. To today, 4 years later, he nonetheless catches me off shield with a kiss that make my abdomen dance and my heart pound. We even have an excellent "how we met" tale. he's a musician, and that i presumed he exchange into rather wonderful up on point enjoying his sax. i wished to fulfill him, yet my chum wished to go away before his wreck so I wasn't waiting to speak to him. So I wrote "Sax participant - e mail me" in the back of a business enterprise card and positioned it in his tip jar! And he DID e mail me!!
