My almost 10 year old daughter's body is VERY mature for her age. She now has a lot of hair under her arms. I can't let her wear slevless shirts. What do I do... I think she is way to young to shave. But we live in Florida where it is warm most of the time. I am really at a lost. If there are any parents that have gone through what I am going through I would appreciate hearing from you.

let her shave !

ive been doing this sence around age 10 or so .. i had an older sister to show me the ropes .

just teach her how .

thats all you can do in this situation .. its to hot to stay covered up all the time , not to mention it wont be long before other kids notice it , and start to tease her .

its better in my opinion to let her shave now .

I was ten when I got my first period (my sister was nine). It's better if you show her how to shave her underarms and legs and do all of the hygiene stuff she will need to do as an adult. If you don't, other kids may pick on her in school, not just because she's more developed, but because she looks different from them AND adults. I can't imagine (being a mom, now) how hard it is to see your little girl growing up like this, but she is so you need to support her as she grows into a young woman. Good luck!

Kids are maturing at such a fast rate these days!!! My daughter is the same way...I showed her how to shave her pits...to save her embarrassment. Kids can be cruel! Her friends are all shaving their legs also (and some even wearing makeup) but I draw the line there. She's only 10--I'm not ready for her to grow up completely!!!

If she is old enough to have hair under her arms, she is old enough to shave. Other kids will notice and pick on her. If you make it a big deal, it is a big deal. If you tell her it is just part of growing into a woman, and teach her, then it will be just a normal part of life. If you wait and others notice, it may cause a bad body image.

You should let her shave or use a hair removal cream like Nair. I remember when I was at school there was a girl with a lot of body hair and she got teased horribly.

I've been shaving since I was nine, (lol) my mom said if I cut myself thats my fault! She may be young but it's hot, she wants to wear clothes that will cool her down, so let her shave the extra unwanted hair!

you have to save the girls underarms. Use clippers on a high setting so she still has hair but not to grown. Since her body is developing watch carefully the type of clothes that you buy. Older men could mistake her for an older person and then you have a problem.

OMG, let the girl shave!

Teach her!

Thats all she needs is a mom who thinks she is going to stay 5 years old forever...

Let her shave, and start using deodorant if she doesn't already. Her body is obviously maturing and is ready for it, and she's probably not the only one of her peers in the same situation.

PLEASE let her shave. You will save her a lot of embarassment. Hair holds odors. So, if she sweats, she will have an odor. Show how to do it and tell her how often to do it.
