Question:
Is your 1st child 'high-need'/spirited? If so, how long before you tried for a 2nd child?

I mean 'high-need' as defined by Dr. Sears (http://www.askdrsears.com/html/5/t050400.asp). High spirited is also another term for 'high-need' kids. I have a 'high-need' son and it scares me a bit to try for a second baby. I'm afraid I would feel just totally overwhelmed with an infant and a toddler who constantly needs my attention. My husband and I were originally planning on trying for a 2nd child when our son is 18 months old.

Our first is totally fine on her own, always has been. The second is very 'high need' . . . it all depends on the child's personality. And yes, they have that personality from day one. My youngest has been 'high need' since the day she was born. So, you never know, but I think that children benefit in many ways from having siblings.
