I feel it was due to imunizations because at the 12 mo. shot he developed learning disability. Then at age 6 he was diognosed with ODD., after his shot then. No signs or symptoms until afterwards. Anyone else notice the same?

Although I am a parent neither of my two young children have these problems. However, I am a special education major and have read numerous articles about the finds of shots and later on disabilities. If I were you I would get a record of the shots that you feel could have caused it and do research on them. Sorry I couldnt be of more help but good luck in your search.

I don't know what ODD is. I do know what ADD is and I am assuming you missed the A and typed an I instead.
In fact I am probably an expert at Attention Deficit Disorder since I have 4 children with ADD. You notice something is wrong with the way they process information right away. At least we did.
With our oldest, the most severe of all of them, we noticed his pattern of logcial thinking was just not there. Not to mention he would change words around. For example of would be fo (PHO sound) yet is was not dyslexic.
Immunizations have nothing to do with Learning disabilites. What you need to do is to have yourself and the other parent tested for learning disabilites. Many children who are LD have parents who are LD and the parents don't know that. Which makes LD herditary in nature.
In any case there are special needs schools that your 6 year old can be in. Above all there is a program for youth, especially boys, that will benefit him tremendously. Being a veteren of this organization for 30+ years I recommend the Boy Scouts of America. From Scouts he will learn things that he can not learn in school, one of which and the most important, is how to be self sufficient.

No, both my children showed no signs of being overly troubled by immunization other than mild fever. If your problems were caused by immunization I am sorry but I believe that, statistically, immunization does much more good than it does harm. Small comfort to the people who draw the short straw but sadly there would be even more and shorter straws without immunization, just different ones taken by different people. Some children who are talented and gifted get mistaken as having ADHD and conflict disorders. At 12 months what led you to think he developed a disability? Was he crawling one week and stopped the next?

My son was diagnosed with an LD, ADHD, and ODD at the age of 8. However, I noticed problems beginning about the age of 5. Look into the research ... I don't think they've linked ODD or an LD to immunizations or they should have to tell you that as a risk of the shots.

My 9 year old son has ODD, but he also has ADHD and CD, let me tell it is not the shots they get. It is in your family jeans or in the fathers family jeans. The only thing we found that works for all 3 of his is Ritalin, He takes 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg at noon. My son was 4 years old when we found out he had these problems. Now with him medicaided I don't have any problems with him, until he comes down off his meds and then he is a handful.

My son was diagnosed with a Nonverbal Learning Disability when he turned six. He Reacted to his 6 month immunization (whooping cough serum) by going into convulsions. My second child, also reacted to the same immunization at the same age. My third child was given the whooping cough serum even though the other two reacted badly. My first two have the same eye conditions and wear glasses my third does not but did not react to the needles.. I believe to immunize your child causes greater damage.... If I could do it all again, I would not allow immunizations to be done on my children!!

My youngest son was smiling and had no signs of autism until shortly after his 18 month immunizations. I have proof in video and photos. He started to talk normally and then all speech was lost. I think he was prone to not being able to expell the thermerasol (mercury based) in the immunizations. Someday maybe we will get the answers to the connections and not a run around by big business fat cats.

Immunizations do in general do more good than harm............but.................some children in rare cases have reacted negative them. I have a friend whose child is handicap from them and she sees immunizing in a completely different light than I do.~Two of my children have learning disabilities & one of them is physically handicapped. Their disabilities stem from other causes. Mental disabilities may not be real obvious until preschool age because of how children all learn at different rates. Plus there are varying degrees of severity to each individuals disability. Physical ones? A baby sitting up on their own months later than the average can be a first sign.

my son is 8 and has been struggling with learning since he was 3 i had him tested at early on at 3 because he wasn't talking very much so i thought he was speech delayed i enrolled him into preschool the following year and he has had OT and pt and speech since then he is now going into 3rd grade with all the same services it is very hard for him and he repeated kindergarten at my request to see if that would catch him up i never noticed anything out of the usual during immunizations he was born 6 weeks early and came out blue and i was concerned but they told me everything was OK and now i really wonder if he was okay he should of been a c-section his heart rate dropped down to single digits while they were yelling at me to push because he was already in the birth canal.
