Question:
Parents: Should the sex offender map (family watchdog) list more information then they provide?
2012-01-28 12:21:17 UTC
The map already lists:
· Details (address)
· Aliases
· Convictions
· Description (gender, race, hair color, eye color, height, weight, birthday)
· A map, satellite, hybrid and terrain of the offender's address.

The map should list:
· The victim's age during the crime committed regardless of whether the victim is a child or not
· The victim's gender
· The offender's age during the crime committed
· The year the crime was committed
· The offender's relation to the victim (father, uncle, neighbor)
· The year the offender was convicted
· The offender's triggers (for pedophiles it could be diaper commercials and/or tomboyish girls, for rapists, girls with long hair and/or blonde hair)
· The offender's name change records and being searchable with those names.
· All other convictions listed below sex crime convictions (copyright infringement, drug possession, etc)
· A description of what the offender did to the victim (in 1/1/11, John Smith bla bla bla against his female cousin)

A better alternative would be castration. Think of the money we would save. Oh, also the removal of hands if necessary. But, yes I agree the registry should be much more defined. Every speck of info should be on there.

All you NEED to know is:

Details

Where they live

Description

What they actually did (Because you can get in to the sex offenders list for some very stupid reasons...such as: Urinating in public, having sex with a willing minor (like one who is 16 and you are 18)

When they did it.

What you Do NOT need to know:

A list of "turn ons" - Why would you need that in the first place?

You don't need to know everything else they did (I,e other charges) what use is that going to be to you?

You don't need the details of what the offender did to the victim. (All you need is "Child molestation", or something like that; not "John would blah blah blah to victim every blah blah and make her blah blah on his blah blah)
Who am I?

It's not because people who break the law are still entitled to their privacy, even sex offenders. Also, not every sex offender is a public threat or a child predator. And frankly, why is providing all that info going to change how you conduct your life? There are hundreds of others that have never been caught and of course would not be on the registry. How you teach you children and live your life should not be for the people who are listed but for the ones who are not.

I want to know

- Where they live

- What they did (rape of adult, consented sex with minor- not a little kid obv, paedophile. or did they just watch porn or something and get caught?)

They're conviction.

Description.

Gender of victim.

I don't want to know their "turn ons" and what they did in detail.
