Don't eat out or go to convenience stores or coffee shops. What seems like a petty amount of cash adds up over time. That $2 cup of coffee that you or your husband buy yourself on the way to work is $10 a week, $500+ a year. One of the first things my kids learned when they left home is how much it cost to buy drinks and snacks at convenience stores and coffee shops instead of bringing them from home. As for eating out, we can hardly find a place where we spend less than $6-$7 per person per meal - even for fast food. Again, that doesn't seem like much until you do it a couple of times a week. You can cook plenty of your own meals for $1 a person or less, and it will be healthier and save gas, because you will stay home.

The other thing I would do is plan meals for a week at a time and shop only once a week. That way you don't waste time and gas on frequent trips to the store, and as Zorro said, you can cook enough at one time to last for several meals.

I'm a new mom myself... i clip coupons like crazy. I sign up for any and all diaper/baby related coupon clubs. But the best thing i do is terrible really... i complain.... about everything that is messed up. If my diapers leak, i call the number on the package. I know its terrible but i expect quality when i buy. I don't shamelessly call and complain for no reason but if there is a problem.... watch out. Lol. I buy store brands and just go with the cheapest thing i can find. Also i buy in bulk... when i know she will be in the same size diapers i buy the biggest box i can... and wipes... save that container or use a big baggie cause they stay moist better. My doctor gives samples and tells me to take a bunch( most of the kids are older that go there) they always have coupons. If there is a brand you want to try but aren't sure how it works call and ask for samples. Make friends with people with kids a little older and a little younger than your kid... hand me downs are great. I'm shameless i go on craigslist and search the free ads for kids stuff locally. They know my name at goodwill and every consignment shop around. The dollar store sells kids stuff. Big lots sells kids stuff cheap... i look for stores that price match and search the internet for cheaper prices and print out the ad. My $279.00 crib cost me $74.00( after tax) all from price matching. ... you will get there... it takes practice and yu don't always get the deal, but saving a little helps a lot

if you already have cable/satellite, cancel it and purchase an antenna. if you drink soda, stop drinking it since it'll be healthier for you. if you're running errands, run them all during the same time (to save gas). if you currently buy bottled water, stop buying it and resort to a filtered pitcher.

if you have neighbors that get the Sunday paper, ask them if you can have their leftover coupons. some grocery stores have coupon dispensers for certain items throughout the store. if you find your favorite grocery items on sale, stock up.

The best tip I have is when you cook, cook a lot and benefit from economy of scales. Find creative ways to turn 1 meal into several. The obvious and easy one is chili which can be chili dog, chili fries, chili, mix noodles in it and you have something else I forget what it is called... anyway you get the point.

-Don't shop at WalMart. Its not as cheap as you think!

-To save on electric bill, unplug EVERYTING you don't use. Even powered off[plugged in] electronics such as tv's, radios, coffee makers, lamps, and cell phone chargers all still have electrical currents going through them! Be consistent! It will amaze you!

-THRIFT STORES (baby thrift stores!)

-Don't eat out

-Keep a change jar and don't use the change until it's full

Saving cash... On no account easy however it can be achieved. 1) searching at less highly-priced stores. (ie Zellers etc) 2) now not shopping manufacturer title objects. Purchase no title products can save a lot. Three) buy matters when they are on sale four) just say no. I are aware of it can be tough frequently while you quite need anything but commonly you need to do without. 5) don't order food in or go out alot. Make your dinner at house. 6) turn off lights, do not do laundry at height hours etc. 7) walk to locations more. Saves money on the car. Eight) buy used. (garb or toys for youngsters and you) 9) Open a savings account and put money in each pay. Even if it is only 10 bucks, with a purpose to add up. There are more but I are not able to suppose of them proper now. Kim
