Does it suck being an adult?

I'm sixteen and I had a firsthand taste of what it feels to be a semi-adult. I was a camp counselor at a camp for a week and it was the hardest-- yet most sweetest experience I have ever faced-- the kids were so mean to me at first because I'm a girl and there weren't enough cabin leader guys to take care of the 5th 6th graders so I volunteered. So I was just wondering-- does it suck being an adult?

My opinion: HECK YEA! ! !

If I had a fairly normal childhood where I got along with my family and didnt have to worry about bills, I would go back to that any day.

My advice to you, is to enjoy the last few years you have of staying @ home. Unless you have to, dont rush to grow up and treasure where your at this pt in your young life.

Dont get me wrong, there are perks of being an adult. Its unatural to stay an adolesance forever. It might sound corny but honestly, get an education, get smart/good friends, dont date losers, and you should start your young adulthood off to a good start. Kudos to you for volunteering at a camp, done that once, it was brutal (good for the heart)

lol some days more than others. I wish that I could go back and be more of a kid, or teenager instead of wanting to be grown lol

I think the most stressfull thing of being an adult are bills, they seem to be getting higher and I never realized what a stress it must have been for my parents.

I am a mom and a wife, and to be honest I am happy, and I love being a mom and wife, but boy do I miss the days of no stress and being a teenager! :P

You are only 16, enjoy being 16, have fun, stay in school and focus on what is important. Every parent tells thier child this, and now being an adult and a mommy I see why!

No. What sucks though is legally being an adult but not 'really' being an adult. Ages 18-20 were the hardest. Not saying that's true for everyone but there are so many changes, and so much responsibility thrown on you all at once. Whether it's college or getting a job things change, and you have to learn how to adapt.

Four years after my rough patch I really enjoy my adapted, steady lifestyle. It is good you are doing what you are doing now. Practice makes perfect.

It sucks and then it doesn't. Being an adult means that you have lived through the turbulent adolescent and teenage years, but then low and behold, the 20s kick in. Responsibilities become more up front and in your face, you don't see individuals the same way you did back then and you grow weary of the BS people try to sell you. As an adult you get to pick and choose, as a child someone picks and chooses for you. Like I said, it has its advantages and its disadvantages, but it is up to you to put everything into perspective. Because you asked this question and because of the answers you will receive, you will be ready for adulthood and what it dishes out. God Bless.

It can, but most of us adjust and do just fine. A lot of being an adult is making good and safe decisions for yourself. Over and Over and Over. Every day. That takes time and learning not to act on your first impluse. Learning to say no to situations that though they may sound fun can be big trouble down the road. Adolence is a learning time, your parents should be part of your safety net. Being an adult is about being responsible, doing what you say you will, being where you are supposed to be, and hopefully learning from _other_ people's dumb mistakes as well as your own.

The main thing about being an adult is that a lot of times it is fun, you get to be helpful, you have friends who like you because you are you and not because of what you own, or what they think you can get them. You stop being mad at everyone when you don't get your way. You just shrug and go on to the next thing. You adjust.

Your life is what you make it. It's all in how you go about it and what your attitude is. True, being an adult is a lot of responsibility and you can't just blow it off on someone else. You're it. You make the decisions and you suffer (or enjoy) the consequences. Part of growing up.... Sounds like you handled it just right. This was a good experience for you. Would you consider doing it again, now that you have experience?

The answers here are based on stereotypes and ignorance. It's TOTALLY normal. Just know, though, that the great majority of adult thumb suckers hide it.

Like oh my goodness! No way, you got to sleep in the same room as boys? Did you get sick? I heard they have germs, that crawl into your nose at night! Does it suck being 16? I'm eight, and I got a preview of what if feels like to be a teenager. I went to junior high for a field trip and I saw all of the older kids. It was so weird, because they are a lot taller than me! I wonder if it sucks being a teenager. DOES IT??????

of course not it is better then living under the rules of the parents....and society and peer pressure, not to mention raging hormones....as adults we only have society's laws to live under....

you just have to do more of holding yourself accountable for your responsibilities. and you tend to have more as you get older
