ummm....yeah it is also likely that the child suffers from developmental disabilities as well. Children should be spoken to at birth on up.

A psychological study was done in an orphanage in Russia in the early 1900's to see if babies would develop their own language and behavior patterns if given no outside influence other than feeding, changing and bathing. Sadly, at the end of the year all the babies had died for mostly unknown reasons, "failure to thrive". Babies need interaction and LOVE, it's what they live for. Social Attachment Disorder can also develop and the child may not be ever able to have a relationship of any kind, friendship or otherwise. Serious problems could be here, depending on the level of ignoring. You can report your concerns to child protective services and they can decide what to do about it. If it's your own child, please change before it's too late. Children need and crave love.

ALSO>>>> if you are the child who is being completely ignored, and it's more than just adolescent perception, PLEASE seek help for yourself. Every child is worth the love and attention they deserve.

I think your question should be "Is it possible for a child NOT to be emotionally scarred if the parents completely ignore their child? It is next to impossible to grow up completely happy and well adjusted if you hae suffered this kind of abuse.

~Yes, it could emotionally scar them! A long time ago, some people did a study on this in a foster home. People just fed them, and the media just came in and took pictures, but no one showed them any compassion or love. Not only were the children scarred emotionally, but some of them died! This also could cause them to become sociopathic!!!~

Yes, it is. I have seen firsthand what effect this has on a child. They develope antisocial behaviours. My family is dealing w/ the after effects w/ an adopted child right now. We love her so much (and have for 19 yrs. & she could care less about herself or anyone else for that matter)

If you do not pay attention to your infant, completely ignore them, and don't love them, they can actually die. They stop eating and everything, it is called "failure to thrive", you should look it up.

Rent video "The Chosen". Excellent film which has this as its theme. You'll like it.

Yes - and it's also considered neglect. Please report it to child protective services in your area.
