I am just wondering because my father lets me. I am 14 years old. I got my first deactivated firearm, a Finnish Mosin-Nagant M1891-24 when I was 13 years old. I now have 3 rifles, a submachine gun and a revolver, with another rifle coming, an m/1896 Swedish Mauser. But my father has said he will no longer support this interest of mine. My mother has never supported it, she left us three years ago and I suspect that she has influenced my father's views on this. I live in Canada and anyone can buy these without licences.

I would and did let my children collect firearms, deactivated or not. As long as the child can afford it why not, it is much better than these idiot kids running up a $500.00 phone bill every month.

Yes sir not only that but I will be teaching my child to correctly use firearms probably around the age of five. Your mom is probably on her high horse thinking guns kill people...well of guns kill people mine is defective. Besides it's legal to have them...would they rather you be oit doing something illegal like drugs? Your parents may be misinformed on gun rights. They are here for our protection and safety. Not only from a robber but from the government in case it ever becomes tyrannical. Either way they are deactivated. So what hharm is being done?

No. I'd much rather they spent their time and money on something worthwhile. Why don't you try a hobby which involves more than throwing money around?

(My kids are target rifle shooters, btw - nothing to do with my attitude towards guns.)
