OK so I was looking on e-bay for some sensory toys for my son who is autistic. I found bumble balls, that vibrate and bounce.
But than I saw these ones and they are advertised for cats and kittens.
I really think my son would love these.
The question is, whether its "appropriate" to give a child a pet toy lol ?

you're the parent. you make the decision. unless the product has warnings (because of ingredients), then you make the decision.

considering you have a special needs child (my prayers and support are w/ you), don't wait for industry to tell you what you can or cannot do. some of the best ideas came about because people were willing to think beyond traditional boundaries.

go for it!

Catnip is a feline version of human weed or pot, depending on what people use to name it these days. I would keep them well away from your child and only let the cat have them when there's no one else around. They go insane with them if you give it to them only once in a while, but they get bored if they play with them every day. Too much of a good thing can be bad in a way. But again, seeing as your child has an interest in them, he is probably mimicing your cat, in which case, keep them away from him. If he were to chew a hole in one, he'd get a nasty taste in his mouth, and possibly become ill.

I would say to go for it. Pretty much no one is going to be any wiser unless you point it out to them. The best therapists use what they can find to make the things their clients need.

You might want to find a book called "the out of sync child has fun" by carol stock kranowitz. She wrotes extensively about sensory issues and creative ways to give the child what they need, safely.

you might want to check the abilitations catalog for sensory toys too. My son has wand like toys with characters on the top that vibrate ( think of a teething rattle).

Yes, go for it! If I found anything I thought would keep my sons interest for more than 5 minutes I would buy it! What's the difference in letting your child play with kitchen utensils or boxes?

Since they are designed to be chewed on by pets and to last a long time than I think it would be safe. If it was a choking danger to a child then it is a choking danger to a pet.

Yes its appropriate!

Sometimes i buy my little 3 and 4 year old brothers squeaky cat toys but they aren't autistic, they LOVE those toys! They are simple and cheaper!Yet they last a long time!

I think it would be fine as long as you know it's safe. I'm pretty sure childrens toys have to meet EU legislation, but pets toys don't.

My friend owns a pet shop & he once gave my daughter a plastic mouse that you are supposed to play with a kitten ,

My girl loved it ! so even if it's a crocodile ? as long as your kid loves it , then who cares ?

i don't see a reason why not as long as it is safe...and it helps with his ability and you watch him with at all times.

no, they look to be a choking hazard I wouldn't risk it
