You need to file for child support against the baby's father.

second, there is no reason why you should not be working at least part time since you are not going to school either. Who is supporting this child? With daycare help, you should be looking for a job. Start there, get some money saved, then worry about an apt.

A Friend of mine has cms and it help her pay for her sons daycare she pays about $35 a month she still get a bill for what cms covers and if she didnt have it daycare for her 2 year old son would be $350 so you should check it out its really good daycare and stuff. The only bad thing is there is a waiting list but if you are doing this with no help and are trying to get a job you can get it so just apply! i hope i helped :)

do no longer think of there is the form of venture, if so each mom could have a house. i think of you're greater constructive off getting a activity and attempting to get on section 8 housing. in case you have a activity and are purely finding for an extremely low value loan or something, try your state materials. i got here upon a house software interior the state of RI that enables people who fall into particular income publications and that they helped me shield a loan at an extremely low fixed fee.

I am fixing to turn 23 and I am also a single mother to a 15 month old daughter and it is tough!

I have a job working retail...doesn't make a lot of money but it helps a lot. You can contact your local human services office and get families first (cash assistance for diapers and other neccessary baby items), Wic (until your child turns 5, to buy milk, bread, cheese, eggs, healthy cereal, beans, etc), food stamps (obviously for food), Medicaid? (here it's Tenncare, not sure what it is there), and also through the families first you can get assistance to pay for daycare. I don't know of anyone who will just give you money and a car....you have to get a job for that. You can also go to your local housing assistance office...I found this website by simply googling "housing assistance in Texas" http://www.texashousing.org/

Also, here if you have TennCare you can get a ride for free to doctors appointments, work, grocery store, etc. I am sure they have something similar there if you have medicaid.

I wish I could get help paying off an old student loan so I could finish college but it's nearly impossible :(

As a single mother you can get a lot of assistance but it's all to help you become more self-sufficient. The government won't and shouldn't just pay for everything for you and your child for the rest of your life. They will help long enough for you to get a job and support yourself.

Also type in "job openings in ______, Texas" and look for a job that way..also if craigslist is popular there you can search that for a job.

Wow...one question: Are the thumbs downs for actually trying to help or for being a single mother myself?? Or maybe it's because I said I work....not sure but if someone could inform me that would be great.

*sigh* I understand what you are going through. There is really nothing you can do online. You need to go to the Department of Human Services and WIC [Women Infant Children] and sign up for food stamps, baby food, maybe even welfare. DHS can help you out with a lot and what they can't provide help with they will tell you who can.

You should start by getting a job and putting your ex on child support. That's really the only way you can get on the path to getting a car or an apartment.

*ETA* To the person below me, you have to work - even a menial job - when you have a child to support. It is the responsibility of the parents, not the taxpayers, to support the child. Plenty of other mothers have worked to put themselves through school. If they can do it, the asker can do it.

Try your local Division of Family Services office.

http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/ (look under parents tab)

They can help you get free daycare services, financial assistance while you wait for your your aid to get through, etc. They are who can help you with government assistance and food stamps as well.

If you need it that is why it is there.

Also try your local unemployment office. They can help you find a job!

for heavens sake your child is barely over a year don't listen to people on here. I think its great you are interested in looking for daycare so you can go to school. Do not worry about working some menial job at all you just focus on education for you and your daughters future.
