Question:
What would most teens do if their parents suddenly banned Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber from their homes?

Suppose some parents of teens had enough of artists like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, and they finally decided to prohibit their kids from listening to them any longer. While the kids are in school, the parents delete all their songs off their kids' iPods and computers, break all their CD's by those artists, and tear down all posters on the walls of them.

What would likely happen in the home that evening when the kids got home from school? How long before the kids get over it?

My kids don't watch or listen to any frivolous filth... not saying taylor swift is frivolous filth... i'm just saying. If you teach your children from the beginning that they WILL mind and they WILL behave... then they will.

Yeah I'm in the teen range you are talking about.

I'd only mind if they took 1 of my posters- the Justin Bieber one I have... taped onto a dart board.

I'd scream for joy at a Bieber-free home. Preferably, a Bieber-freee world.

I melted his CD in my microwave(my microwave exploded). Justin Bieber sucks.

Okay, sorry about the rant.

Yeah, I wouldn't care all that much. No 'teen pop sensations' have a great deal of talent. It's more them being blond and perfect, not talented.

Honestly, the minipop kids are better.

I wouldn't mind that much as long as I still had some music.

Although breaking the CD's would be a bit of a waste. Why not donate them to charity?

Or to the kids of some-one you really hate. It would drive them crazy to constantly hear a squeaky rendition of 'Baby, baby, baby ooooh, you smile, I smile' or an auto-toned 'I can't be tamed, cause it's a party in the USA!!!'.

Peace! ;)

Err, my teenage niece is into dubstep - she thinks people like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are desperately uncool and would happily have them wiped off the face of the planet.

When I was in my teens, the equivalent of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift would have been people like Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue. I was never remotely into them.

Not all teenagers are boring little sheep looking for sanitised, corporate, over-produced kiddie-pop.

Me personally? I hate both of those artists. My mom's dream is to punch Taylor Swift.

Personally, I would be thrilled to have a Bieber-free home and I think most teens would agree. Go down a couple years to the 9-10 year olds and it would probably destroy their lives

My little girl would cry! She loves Justin Bieber *cringe* and it would be a little sad for her. My daughter would through a fit and it would take her a while to get over it.

O.o its not like justin and taylor are bad role models or something *cough* miley cyrus *cough* LOL. if it was miley then yeah id understand. i mean, look at her when she started doing hannah montana. and look at her now LMFAO. shes like not even the same person anymore.

but justin and taylor didn't do anything wrong. i would hope parents would never ban them two. i actually like justin & taylor<3

i wouldnt be affected by this at all seeing that they are both terrible artists and also i have never taken the time to listen to a full song produced by either one, i would honestly be a little happy that now i can sleep at night knowing that nobody could walk into my house with their music

if your talking bout pre teens and young teens. 10-13yrs olds. then they would most likely think that their life was not living, throw themselves on the ground declaring heart break. Scream that they hate you and their life is so unfair. That your the lamest mother/father ever and that your ruining their life. Probably threaten to run away and keep carrying on for another few days tilll they find someone else to admire.

I'm guessing there are more issues then what music is being listened to in a home such as that.

REBEL TIME. They probably won't get over it till they grow up. But in that time period, they might re-buy all the cds, redownload their songs and might revenge.

I know some teenagers who would cry, kick, scream and rebel.

I listen to The Beatles, ABBA, Elton John and other older classics, so it wouldn't bother me one bit.

Regain my sanity

What exactly am I 'getting over'? That would be a miracle. :)

I can only tell you what mine would do. She wouldn't even notice. Nothing to break, nothing to delete, nothing to tear down.
2010-12-16 12:01:08 UTC
they would probably rebel and just do something much worse. that is why you should just let kids be who they want to be. as long as it is doing no harm.
2010-12-18 22:23:24 UTC
i would tell my parents they are mother fu*king idiots!
2010-12-16 12:30:51 UTC
