What would you class as a BIG family?

I have heard people saying that having 4 kids is a big family, i am having my third but think 3 kids is about average in the uk at least, i would say 6+ kids is a big family, what do you think? What is average what is big?

People say our family is really big and i'm not saying its small but because im so used to it i don't see as really big ,



i'm pregnant with my 7th child, so probably 7+ children is big! this will definatly be are last ...although we said that with #6!!

I think that 4 children is a big family simply because you have to start buying bigger to accommodate them all.



You can't fit 2 adults + 4 kids into a standard car for example.



You have to buy a four bedroom home, because even if you manage to squeeze everyone into a bedroom - the rest of the house is too small.



You need to buy bigger sofas - a 2 seater plus a 3 seater is the typical combination but there won't be a seat for everyone with 4 kids...



I personally think that the average number of children would be 2 in the UK, excluding asian families from the equation.

I think 3 kids & 2 adults is a big family. 2 kids & 2 adults is average and 1 child is small.

If money was no object I would have a few kids but I know what a strain it is when your not very well off because I was the oldest of 4 and it was a huge struggle.

and my husband had 3 kids from his previous marrage

I think 8 is a pretty big family, thankfully they are spread out in age, which I find helps alot.

I have 6 kids, and I rarely meet a family with more than 6 I meet a family with 3+ nearly everyday, 4+ nearly weekly, but it is rare to meet 5+ people, so I would say 5+ is a big family.

honestly, 4 kids in NOT a big family because people who say thjat think they have 1 or 2 perfect children,meanwhile people like me have 8 children and know its huge. i wouldnt class 3 kids as a big family you're right it starts when its 6 or more.

I would say more then 4 kids, but where I come from, its not at all uncommon to have 8, 10, or even 14 kids.

in europe i think average is around 2

then if you take india the average will be much higher for different reasons (help needed, money, contraceptive failure..)

but i would say... 5+ because you have to count the parents.. that makes seven people in one house.. 6+ is also right... 5 or 6 i'd say

We have 4 children and I don't feel we're a particularly big family. I think if we had any more children we would be a big family.

I guess it all depends how much money you make and how big your house is. The only reason that affects anything is the more kids you have then the less of your financial resources are going to be able to go toward that kid (clothes, food, possible college expenses, etc). Your the only one who can decide how many kids is too much, more you than your husband lol ;)
