i know 2 and i think they r appaulling role models/ mothers.
I know this Q will bring many angry responses, but its a burning question i have to ask.
Do their own inadaquacies bring them to a proffession where they can profess to b good role models to children/parents?

Yeah, I don't think your experience is totally unique. I do know 2 terrific-at-home social workers. Your point is well made, though...

I would guess it depends on each individual. My mother was in Social Work for a few years, then changed to work in Child Support Enforcement. She, to be nice about it, should NOT have been a mother, she was/is very controlling and abusive. Entering into the field she did only made her a hypocrite, fine for her but no one else.

my stepdaughters' best friend and roommate is a social worker. she steals drugs from the homes she visits. she smokes morphine patches and is pregnant. i think she has the job to keep from being on the other end because she knows how wrong she is.

People can sometimes deal with things better when it isn't personal, so they can take great care of everyone else's problems, but when it comes to their own personal problems it is harder for them to deal with them. Everyone needs someone to look at the situation from the "outside".
