Question:
I'm the tooth fairy tonight but i have no money in the house?
2008-09-03 11:46:18 UTC
It's 7.30pm and my 6yr old has just lost a front tooth, normally £2.00 would replace it by 7am but I have no money in the house!!!
She told me just before going to bed that once the tooth fairy couldn't leave any money for her friend because she had her head on top of it & the fairy couldn't pull it out but not to worry as she would come back the next night. My daughter has made sure she is not lying on it & is now asleep.
Has this ever happened to you, did you make up a little story?
What would you do if it was you?

You could try making her a fairy sized breakfast for her to eat when she wakes up and leave her a fairy sized note saying that this tooth was the 1 millionth tooth collected and so as a special surprise she gets a special fairy breakfast instead of cash...

Then, go out and get a bunch of shiny new £2 coins and keep them in your sock drawer for future teeth.

Considering you are already at home with a child who is asleep, going to the ATM is not an option. This happened to my parents when I was younger and the Tooth Fairy left me a note that said, " There were so many children who lost teeth today that I have run out of room in my Tooth Fairy bag and my money bag is empty!! Put your tooth under your pillow tomorrow night and the Tooth Fairy will make it up to you!"

May sound dumb to some.. but it eased my 5 year old mind. There was an extra dollar left the next night also.. :)

well, the tooth fairy sometimes gives the children another little token for their teeth, other than money. My little nephew got really excited over a silver medallion that my bother, correction..the tooth fairy, gave him. If you can't find anything else that she might like you could try telling her that the tooth fairy couldn't get to her tonight because she couldn't get in through the window or something to that effect. Then leave a note on the window or door from the tooth fairy stating that she will be back tomorrow with some magical dust to let her in. So, my story might be weird but I'm just giving you an idea =) good luck!

hehe, I've been in your shoes. I had to make a trip to the bank (at the teller because not enough in the account to make a withdrawal through the ATM) and take out my last $2 to make the tooth fairy payment.

If I had NO way to get some change I would go in there and take the tooth, then throw it under her bed. Tell her maybe the tooth fairy couldn't find her tooth and go in there to help her look for it...miraculously find it, and tell her to try again. You're sure she'll find it this time.

Between her and her friends they'll think the Tooth Fairy is an imbicile but you can have good laugh with her about it when she's older.
2008-09-03 12:10:30 UTC
Tell her that the tooth fairy ran out of money and she knows that she is a big girl who can wait one more night unlike some of the other kids and she might get something extra for help the fairy out. That is what my parents told me once and I got like an extra 50 cents or something but more importantly the tooth fairy thought I was a big girl and I felt special! Tell her the tooth fairy wrote a note to you and said not to worry she would be back to take her tooth the next day.

I once received a handmade gift certificate to "go ice skating with a friend" under my pillow. Pick an activity that your daughter enjoys but that you rarely do, or perhaps something she wants to do but you haven't gotten around to yet. Anything you've said "wait until your older" to might work and make something up on a nice peiece of paper. If you have glitter that will help, everyone knows faeries leave glitter behind ;) And then go do the activity this weekend. How many kids get "free ice cream" or "pierced ears" under their pillow? She might even be able to impress her firends with her gift from the tooth fairy!

Ignore the advice to dash out to the ATM, they don't give small bills anyway. Why does everyone think that there is an ATM that close to you anyway? HELLO! Some people live in the country and some parents are good parents who don't "dash out" while their kids are sleeping alone in the house!

Whatever you do will make your daughter happy, I'm sure!

This has never happened to me I don't have kids. But I think it is ok to make up some cute little story. You could leave here some candy if you have any under her pillow tonight, if not you could even leave a letter from the tooth fairy (she would love this I'm sure) explaining that she couldn't leave any money tonight (she lost her wallet on the way to your house or something else creative) but as soon as she finds it she will be sure to come back and put some money under her pillow. Just be creative. I can't think of a little girl who wouldn't like to have a letter from the tooth fairy.

Hello:

Oh yes it has happened to me and the little story I made up was that the tooth fairy has very high tech equipment to tell her where all the lost teeth are and that this equipment is run by satalite and that there must have been a big storm up in tooth fairy heaven and it block the signals needed for that night and that once the storm has passed the tooth fairy would have to catch up on all the teeth missed from the night before and to patient because she works alone and thats alot of work to catch up on.And sure as heck the very next AFTERNOON when my daughter went to play in her room she checked to make sure tooth was still there and low and behold she came while she was eating lunch WHEW it worked and she thought it was great that she came during the day. All the best of luck to you. Kids sure have a way of keeping us on our toes don't they.

I have two good options that you might consider. :]

001; Find one of your old necklaces, rings, bracelets or something similar that you don't want anymore, and preferably your daughter hasn't paid attention to. Place that instead and tell her that "The tooth fairy told me personally that she's proud of you being so grown up, and has left you something special this year!" Hopefully, she'll be amazed (and look after it ;) )

002; Write her a letter on your computer, or by hand from the tooth fairy herself, saying something like... "Dear ____,

I'm awfully sorry, but there are so many little children loosing their teeth tonight, I've run out of money to leave you. I thought you looked like a pretty mature young girl, and hoped you wouldn't mind waiting untill tommorow night!"

Along those lines, and then give her a coin the next night, maybe with a small sweet or something ?

Hope it helped a little? :) x

I may have typed an IOU from the tooth fairy that read something like this:

Dear XYZ,

I am so sorry I ran out of cash today. I did not expect so many children to lose teeth tonight. I will return and leave your payment plus interest.

Love tooth fairy

Or I may have told another child that the tooth fairy is Union, and has the day off. Lucky her, children who lose teeth on day the tooth fairy has off get more money on the tooth fairies next work day.

Does she have a piggy bank you could borrow the money from until you get to the bank? I've had that done to me. Lol, I haven't reached the tooth fairy stage with my daughter yet. Maybe leave her a note from the tooth fairy about how there were so many kids that lost teeth, she ran out of money, or leave her a coupon, redeemable by mom for a small toy or treat.

Good luck!

Make a little note in which the tooth fairy explains why she could not take the tooth and leave money - her tooth bag was full, maybe. Say she'll be back tomorrow. Surround the words by fairy squiggles and flowers - pretty and fairy-like.

When I was a school Matron and the children put their teeth under their pillows I did not always know until they told me the tooth fairy had not called I used to write a note in squiggly writing saying Anita the tooth fairy is away on holiday until I found enough coins to leave under the pillow.

Tell her that the tooth fairy had soooooooo many kids houses to stop at tonight, she has to finish them up tomorrow, and for waiting she will get a little something extra from the tooth fairy, like some special fairy dust or something.(glitter in a baggie)

Have the “toothfairy” create a certificate for the prettiest tooth! (or something like that) And say that because it’s so pretty, the toothfairy has to go and show the queen toothfairy before she can put it in the tooth museum. And give yourself a day to go the money…

Kids will fall for whatever you want. They do look forward to the money however so you’ll have to come up with a good plan.

Best of luck!

Well there must be a few coins lying around and if not, make up a little note to your daughter saying that you are really sorry but there are so many little girls with teeth falling out that you have no money left but that you have left a sweetie for now and you will come back tomorrow with some money.

Hope this helps

Well, 9 kids and lots of missing teeth, yes the tooth fairy forgot here and there. She was busy. Tooth fell where she couldn't find it. A 'surprise' instead of money....if kids still believe then they'll believe she's coming tomorrow night. BTW, I also told them that the tooth fairy needs the teeth to give to newborns. That's why they're called 'baby teeth'. Good way of recycling, huh?;)

do you know, this is really spooky, I was thinking earlier what am i going to do if my daughters tooth comes out tonight, as my cash is running very low!

How about writing her a letter, alter your handwriting. Say something like the tooth fairies bank was closed and they had run out of money and they will come back tomorrow! Do some drawings on it!
2008-09-03 11:50:41 UTC
Tell your kid that the tooth fairy is still celebrating Labor Day but for the tooth fairy it's Labor Week. Or borrow some money from your neighbor.
2008-09-03 13:11:32 UTC
As a kid my mom always left me new toys instead of money under the pillow instead of money :)

I would think thta it is best to do as somebody said above and toleave her a note from the tooth fairy saying that you are so sorry because you forgot your purse @ home and that you will have some for her tommorow. I would also add some candy!

Good Luck =)

Take the tooth and pass away yet another coin, yet with no longer as plenty value. clarify on your son that the tooth fairy had maximum of jobs to try this "she" replaced into hurrying out his door and dropped is tooth.

Will you have money tomorrow? If so, just tell your daughter sometimes the tooth fairy is REALLY busy and can't get to all the houses in one night. I forgot one time and told my daughter this. She was fine about it.

I really like just the idea of that, the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny just to name a few. Though I dont think i will ever tell my children of these or play to the corporate game I think what we really like to see in children is that innocence of belief that we have never had or have long forgotten. Even though it doesn't answer your question I applaude you and all that do the same to allow their child just a little more joy, a little more innocence, and a little more dreams.

If I were in this situation, and I couldn't borrow from a neighbor in an emergency, I'd leave a nice note from the tooth fairy saying that she was happy to visit but was so silly, she left her purse at home. Maybe you could add that the TF told Mommy to give her something special later on.

My parents once replaced my tooth with an I.O.U. After they explained what that was, they said the tooth fairy used up the last of her money in Peru and she would be back later to bring the money.

leave a note under the pillow LIKE the one below (not in your handwriting /typed if poss)

Dear ....

I came to your bedside today while you where sleeping and I have seen your tooth. My 'lucky purse' flew off my wings tonight which had all of my silver and gold lucky coins in it! It flew away in the wind! I will have to find it!

So, please leave your tooth under your pillow again tomorow and I will give you your lucky coins then while you are sleeping!

Good night,

Love From The tooth fairy.

Give her something else.  Do you have a toy hidden in the home, candy? Can you get a loan from a friend?  If someone asked me for something like that I'd surely help. Can the toothfairy call her tomorrow and personally apoligize to her for having to wait until later for the cash?

You need to have a toothfairy stash of cash hidden away just in case.

Write a check...make it very pretty an fairytale-like...like a fairy actually wrote it. Put it under the pillow. When she wakes up explain to her that its a check and she needs to cash it. Then actually take your child to the bank with you to cash it...in which u are just getting money from ur account.
