I am already paying my ex 1539.00 a month child support and i carry medical ins. on my 4 kids and half of all med. bills not paid by insurance. Now my Ex is fileing a contempt of court on me because I can not afford to reimberce her for half of the cost of braces for my twins after i told her I could not afford it before she ever had it done. What can I do.

she sounds like a *****, tell her that you cant get blood out of a stone, and there is as much chance of that

happening than there is of you gettin what you don't have . i just hate demanding greedy people, she should be glad she dont live in northern ireland she wouldnt be getting anywhere near as much in child support

You can try Mediation to work out a compromise solution. For example, can you work out a monthly payment plan on the braces? Can you not really afford it, or is it that you resent the demand? Think of the message to the children. You must love your twins, and all of your children, and you must want what is best for them. At the same time, the monetary demands of separate households after divorce can be overwhelming. Try and work with your ex-wife from a place of looking for a solution. That is what a Mediator can help you with. Lawyers are going for a win-lose outcome, whereas mediators are aiming for win-win. In the end, it is your children's dental care that is the issue. You can work it out!

Well, the best thing I can see to come up with try getting dental plan for your children for future works. And by all means, try to keep some effort in payment to her. Even if it is $25.00 a week or something reasonable. That way she can not come after you for it. Keep in mind that anything that has to do with your children is worth giving up a night of dinner, or movie out is well worth putting into your kids health. And most of all OUT OF THE COURTS!! Good Luck. I know its a hard battle

YOU DON'T. YOUR CHILDREN NEEDED BRACES WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE TO SUFFER B/C DADDY CAN'T PAY. THIS WAS/IS A LEGITIMATE MEDICAL EXPENSE. ANYWAY WHAT'S THERE TO FIGHT ABOUT A COURT ORDERED YOU TO PAY 1/2. TALK TO YOUR EX ABOUT MAKING PAYMENTS TO HER. I GUESS THE SAYING "IT'S CHEAPER TO KEEP HER " IS TRUE!!
