If someone adds you as a contact?

Do you add them back? Or do you ignore it? Does it depend on if you have seen the person around on here?

Just curious because I am fairly new to this awesome place here called Parenting, and I almost added a few of you, then thought "They will prob think I am weird if I add them"

So, what are your stipulations for adding contacts on here? Do you randomly add people if you like their Q and A? Or do you email first? And Do you add back?

If someone adds me I will add them back if I recognize them, and if I don't I will go look at their profile to see who they are. If I add someone I look at their profile first, because some people want to be emailed before they are added. I love to get new contacts.

If someone adds me, I will usually add them back. I will try to read their profile first if I don't recognize them.



When I add someone, I do try to send them an email as well to let them know I am not one of the crazy stalkers. I am a pretty regular poster on here, but usually only answer the questions I have experience with. I guess that makes me a little more of a lurker, but do try to answer when I can give decent been there/done that advice.



I've also been nervous about adding some people just because of fear of rejection or that they don't know who I am and will be afraid to add me back.

I always add back if I recognize them and have liked their questions and answers. If I don't recognize them I will go read their profile and look at their contacts/fans list. Oh yeah, I look to see how long they've been on here too. Not sure why... I usually email somebody before I add them, but not always... I'm usually the one adding people - I never get added... hahahahaha

Most often that not, I add people once they have added me. If I recognize them. If it's just random person who has added me, I either remove their add or watch and see what happens. I've had people add me who don't even answer in the parenting/nb&b section, so I always wonder how they even noticed me.



But, I would 80% of my contacts I either know on Facebook or some other type of forum away from Y!A.

i have no problem with people adding me, but i don't automatically add people back. i think i have literally 10 times more people on my fans list than my contacts list (of course, if you subtract out the people who are there multiple times on multiple accounts it's not quite such a big difference....). i usually wait until at least the tenth time i've thought "i should really add that person" when reading something impressive that they wrote. to me, the only point of adding people as contacts is so that their q&as get highlighted on my profile screen, and if i have a gazillion contacts that would make that pointless.



i do usually email when i add somebody as long as their email is on, just because i know lots of people are concerned about trolls/reporters on their fans list and i want to let people know i'm not going to be offended or anything if they want to block me and unblock me to get me off.

If someone wants to add me, I just add them back. I don't think that their weird for adding me or anything like that, I think wow, someone added me, I should do the same back.

What goes around, comes around.... So like on my profile states, if you want to add me... Be prepared to be added back.... :-)



If I happen to add someone though, it's because I want them as a contact, I don't go around randomly selecting everyone....

Depends who it is. I used to email and ask, but i've had my email disabled for over a year now (about the time I turned off people being able to add me). I figure if they rather I didn't add them, they can remove me.

I look at their profile to determine if they are just a random person or if they mean business. If I can tell they have kids and they have a lot of points then I will add them back, otherwise I just ignore it.

I add people as contacts if I consistenly enjoy their questions. I don't really care if they add me back or not as I have not added some people that have added me, mostly because I never see any posts from them.

I don't have alot of contacts in my profile. I just feel so werid to add some1 except if I feel like we have somthing in comen. And no one ever added me except one girl. So,,,, :(

I think it's because I'm not here that much.. I have alot of friends in person. I don't know how to make friends on the net.

if someone adds me, and i like their questions, i'll add them back, but usually if i want to add somebody, I'll do it on my own without being added first.

I didn't start adding contacts until very recently. I don't have very many; just a few. I only have a couple of "fans", though.

i add if i am familiar with them. most of the time im too shy to add first. i actually think - what if they havent added me cuz they dont like me. what if they dont like me. seriously i think too much.

i only figured out the other day that contact and fan are the same thing but reversed
